Diapers... Why am I still writing about diapers???

Just in case you are curious, here's my opinion on other diaper brands and store brands:

In the Huggies vs Pampers debate, I prefer Huggies for the elastic they put across the back- prevents "trouser cleavage", or the hanging out of little butt-cracks. Although Pampers does have a slimmer profile (does this diaper make my butt look big?), have a more cloth-like feel and have a nice scent (I am very olfactory oriented... Pampers smell like a clean baby). When it comes to buying them, I'd actually like to buy Huggies all the time (and did with my first child), but Pampers has better sales and coupon matchups. I've been able to get Pampers for as low as $4 (after catalina). This recent slip-on deal was the cheapest I've ever seen Huggies (though there are fewer diapers in the pack). (Regualr price for these diapers tends to be somewhere around $10 for a pack of about 23-30, depending on the size)
I also consider Luvs to be a name brand. I really dislike Luvs. Not the least of my issues with Luvs is the purple print on them... way too girly. They don't have a very good fit, and always seem to leak. They are rough and papery and not cheap enough... Bleh.

For store brands, I've been known to use Sam's Club, Target, Kroger, and Walgreens brands.

*Sam's: Before couponing, and once Asher was wearing a size 3 diaper (they don't make Sam's brand any smaller and I already had a stockpile of newborn through size 2 diapers I had received as shower gifts) I always bought Sam's brand. They come in an enormous box (shocking, right?), so I would only need to buy them once a month or so. They worked well, but I quit buying them when I started cloth diapering (which I will discuss momentarily).

*Target: I have never made it a point to go out of my way to get Target brand diapers. They just never seem to get cheap enough to think it was totally worth getting them over the name brands. Plus, I'm not a huge fan of the giant polka-dots they print on them! I'd lump them into the same category as the Luvs.

*Kroger: Of all the store brands I have purchased consistently, Kroger is the worst. they tear when you unfold them because the adhesive they use to put them together has glued the tabs to the lining. I always seem to have at least one diaper that goes to waste because of tearing. But they are CHEAP. And in a pinch, I will still buy them just because I can pay for a pack with the loose change I find in my car and in my couch cushions. Ok, maybe they cost more than that, but $5 isn't bad.

*Walgreens: These are my go-to store brand diapers. I love them. They are not as high-quality as Huggies or Pampers, but they are way more consistently good than Kroger. The main perk, though, is they can be extraordinarily cheap. I've gotten them for as low as $2.49 a pack (MAJOR savings when you compare that to the name brands' $10 per pack!!). Even when a pack would last me about 2.5-3 weeks, I would still clear a shelf of Asher's size when they are that cheap!

 As for cloth diapering...
We started using cloth when Ash was about 9 months old. I only have a small stash of GroVia (formerly GroBaby) All-In-Two diapers and I absolutely love them. They are so cute, I don't want to put pants on him! Not to mention all the green I'm saving (ecologically and monetarily). They are great for around the house and during the day, but (and I am sure it's not just this brand, but any cloth diaper) they are a hassle when we are out and about and we always had leakage problems overnight. I was really good about using them for quite some time, and we were able to keep our disposables usage at an extreme minimum (only using 1 for overnight on the typical day, maybe using 3 per day at most). But slowly I have been using them less and less. My husband hates them (though I didn't find this out until recently). Also I grew to dislike them over time as well. When Asher was an infant he had constipation issues, which actually made cleaning the diapers easier. But now he has opposite issues which causes rash when not cleaned immediately and it's way more difficult to rinse out. And now that he is in the throes of "terrible two-dom" and cannot be trusted for more than 15 seconds unsupervised, taking the time to rinse out a cloth diaper is time I don't have.

So, there you have it... a completely pointless review of all the diapers I have ever used on my children! Like I mentioned before, I like my opinion to be known on stuff. Regardless of how meaningful...
