tangible enough.

well baby checkups are always fun... i always look forward to hearing what doctor gary has to say and to be able to quantify how they've grown :)  and this was the first time they were able to get their checkups done on the same day (i'm pretty sure that the only other time this will be able to happen is when asher is 18mo and iris is 4) so that was a milestone in itself.

asher, it turns out, has an ear infection.  here's hoping that after a round of antibiotics he'll be a bit happier.  and, surprisingly, the kid is only in the 40th percentile for weight!  60% of kids his age outweigh him... now that's a shocker!  so it is true, he DOES carry all his weight in the cheeks... (he's 17lbs and 28in, in case you were wondering)

i think it's interesting how iris' doctor's visits have evolved as she's gotten older... now she stands on the scales and stands by the measuring stick like a big kid.  she even got her blood pressure checked for the first time!  sheesh.  and the conversation was less "medical" or milestone related, and was pretty much just social stuff.  it's fun.  especially when there are no shots involved.  she's 37lbs and 3'3" tall, which is 90th percentile in both categories.  gary said she's basically the size of a typical 4 year old.  i'm just hoping she wasn't "blessed" with my physique!

ooo

i don't know what it is about the movie "enchanted", but i get misty pretty much every time i watch it.  which is pretty much every day, since it is iris' current favorite (i don't mind at all, though... i'll take enchanted over curious george ANY day!).  that happy ending is just soo good!

the downside to enchanted:  iris called me "girlfriend" the other day.  no, thank you.

ooo

it is absolutely amazing how a clean(er) house can improve my general outlook on life.

ooo

this girl i met at the roller derby photo shoot had booked a session with katyC to do sexy photos for a pinup calendar for her husband.  i was really looking forward to it (broadening my field of experience!) but her furnace died last night and now she can't afford to do it for another few months.  curse you, cold weather!!!!!

ooo

i can't WAIT to get our tax return!  over $6000 WOOT!  i'm so stoked to be able to finally pay off our medical bills from asher's birth and to get some into savings.  how lame and "adult".  if it weren't for those stinkin bills we might have been able to buy a car or something tangible.  getting bills paid off will be a weight lifted, and that's tangible enough.
