Five years ago Friday, I married my best friend/baby daddy/partner in crime/lover... this guy:
We celebrated with simplicity and romance, sharing a bottle of champagne in the garden where our wedding was held. It was actually really beautiful. And I looked awesome, if I do say so myself. We came home to a house with no children (thank you, Mom and Dad!) which was also awesome.
So for weeks before our anniversary I had been wondering what the traditional gift is for the fifth year. Not that we had observed any of the traditional gifts in years past (I actually didn't know they had traditional gifts for years 1-4. For some reason based on absolutely nothing, I had just assumed they started with the fifth. Whatevs). I never bothered to find out though. I got sidetracked and it wasn't important.
So I looked it up today, and I am so glad I did.
The traditional gift given by a man to his wife of 5 years, or from wife to husband is.... *pause for effect*
Wood.
How appropriate. It says so much...
