I need to find something other than coupons to talk about...

I have a sink overflowing with dirty dishes, toys and other miscellaneous junk strewn all over the place, and I am pretty sure this whole house smells funky. Nothing would make me happier than to have all of those things taken care of- but it's the taking care of them that is completely unappealing to me at this moment. Or any moment for that matter.

I have been going to the grocery store every week now since last pay period and it seems to be working out pretty well. I like that I get to take advantage of each week's sales and specials rather than waiting for every other week. I didn't photograph the last couple of weeks, but I will sum up the highlights.
This stuff was all free:
2 containers of Tide Stain Release
1 bag of Dole Salad
2 bags of organic baby carrots
1 bag of spinach
2 bottles of International Delight coffee creamer
1 loaf of bread
1 package of cookies
1 jar of salsa
And, out of the other stuff that I had to pay for, it averaged out to costing me approximately $0.85 per item. Anyway, I am consistently saving at least 50% on my grocery spending. Not too shabby.

In other couponing news, I watched the show, which they are now making into a weekly series, "Extreme Couponing". Those people are for the most part complete wackos. They would be on the show "Hoarders" but luckily for them their "stockpiles" are neatly (and OCD-ly) organized with usable products instead of piled heaps of trash. These people had stuff they bought at the grocery store in literally every room of their house. Seriously, they need therapy for their compulsive shopping, not a television contract to encourage them to take their addiction (and I am not exaggerating) to the extreme. I am all for having a small stockpile amassed to be able to sustain your family for a short time in case of crisis. But you have to USE the stuff you buy!  And once you have, say, 800 rolls of toilet paper, or enough body wash to last the average person 150 years, QUIT BUYING MORE! Who cares if it's free- you don't have any more room under your child's bed to store it (I'm not joking- that's where this one woman kept her stash of TP, under her 2 year old's bed). Anyway, I still admire the fact that they have found a way to get a $500 grocery bill down to $5, I just never think I'll get that good. So maybe I'm just jealous ;)
