daily dose of happy

Some Things That Make Me Happy (in no particular order):

-Iris' favorite flower is the dandelion.  She makes at least one dandelion bouquet every day and she can't wait for them to turn into puffs for her to blow.

-Asher does not crawl.  He is content to just hang out in one spot and play, or to be with me and watch Iris play (though he is starting to get a bit squirmy during the latter).  This makes for taking Iris to the playground quite relaxing.

-Iris is old enough to run around on (most) playground equipment without needing me on top of her (or below her, as the case may be).  I can supervise from a greater distance (which she now prefers when there are other kids at the playground so she can hang with her new friends).

-Iris puts forth a good effort to interact with other kids.  This is sort of a bittersweet blessing, because it breaks my heart when other kids don't want to play with her!

-Sunshine and warmth and zero humidity.

-$5 large pizza from a drive-thru and pizza picnics outside in the back yard.

-Taking a walk after dinner up and down our street with Asher in the sling and Iris holding my hand and humming a made up tune.

-Iris is weirdly responsible for a 3 year old.  I know I totally take that for granted.  But she is so responsible, compassionate, and creative that I forget sometimes that she is still so little.

-My husband gets up with the kids almost every morning and lets me sleep in just a few minutes longer to recover from having to get up with Asher in the middle of the night.

-My husband also doesn't complain that I don't do too much housework during the day.  I feel guilty when he has to come home to a messy house, but I'm happy that he really doesn't care!

  1. I've read this blog post of yours several times now since you wrote it...I think because it makes me smile. I figured I should comment on it and tell you that. I'm hoping you will be notified of my comment and re-read the post yourself because I'm guessing you need a "daily dose of happy" today.
