the kids said...

The other day, out of nowhere, Iris told me she wanted a little sister. I told her if we had another baby, we couldn't promise it would be a sister. She might wind up with another little brother. To which she lamented, "I just want a baby I can love!"
Poor little Iris.

Iris' last day of school was Wednesday, and it was Bike Day. All the kids brought their bikes and scooters and the parking lot was roped off and they got to ride the day away. When Asher and I went to pick her up after school, all the bikes were parked outside so I decided to grab Iris' and put it in the car before going in to get her. Asher carried her helmet. After putting the bike away, we headed back toward the school entrance (and all the bikes) and Asher suggested, "Another one?"
Watch out for this one, folks.

Iris has been planning a birthday party for me. I hope she's not disappointed if all her friends don't get to come over and celebrate. I've tried to tell her that grown-ups' birthdays are a lot less fun than kids' birthdays. She told me that my party will be a surprise, but my birthday won't. Then she changed her mind and said my birthday will be the surprise but I'll know about the party. So far, all I know for sure is that she wants to make a pinata.
